Mommy Life

I am learning a couple if things about being a new mom, the number one thing that I have come to terms with, I will ALWAYS have spit up on me! Wether or not Carter burps after he eats, he always spits up; mostly on me, never on dad.
The second thing I have learned, shopping  is not fun anymore. I am starting to understand the phrase "Going to the grocery store (or any store for that matter) is a vacation." Yes Carter is only 4 weeks old, but it is such a hassle to take him out of his car seat or put him in the pack or get the stroller out. So if I am with someone and we are going to more than one place, I tend to stay in the car and wait, so much easier!
Lesson number 3, do not for any reason move to a third floor apartment! I should have great arms after our lease is up. Taking a car seat and bags up 3 flights of stairs is not easy.
Lesson number 4, it is too hot and humid in FL to take Carter out for a walk/run unless you wake up at the crack of dawn. It is also way too hot for for the beach or pool. So I am stuck in doors until he is a little older or it cools off; I think waiting for him to get older will be the one that wins.
Those are just a few things I have learned in the past 4 weeks. I am still in love with this boy and am happy to do all 4 things!
Especially when he smiles! ❤️

Motherhood

Justin and I welcomed Carter William Christensen on June 12, 2014 at 2:50 pm. He was 20 inches long and weighed 7.7 pounds. He was 13 days early and we were shocked at how big he was! I got induced due to preeclampsia, which I was ok with being induced early! In Florida they start you on cervidil before they actually start the induction. That stays in you for 12 hours, so we started that on June 11 at 5:30 pm. They made me stay in the hospital, and of course they had me hooked up to monitors and were coking in my room about every hour, so no sleep for me! I also was so nervous to be induced, just to actually have a baby, I didn't sleep much the nights before. I was so exhausted that by the time I got the epidural I was able to fall asleep for 2 hours! That all started at 10 am and Carter came at 2:50.
Our first family photo ❤️

I was a little confused what was going in when they placed Carter on me, I wasn't really sure he was mine. It was weird to all of a sudden have a baby on me that was mine! But I instantly fell in love with him the moment I saw him! I now know what love at first sight is.  The best part about the birth of Carter was watching Justin after he was born. He had tears in his eyes and was so happy. He really has been the best dad/husband. I was a little sad when he had to go back to school June 30, he was a greasy help.

I am so in love with these too and just can't seem to get enough of them.
Here are some photos that my friend came and took at the hospital and we did a quick newborn session before we moved

Motherhood so far has been great! I love it. Hopefully it will stay that way 😉

High Blood Pressure.... Fluke

Yesterday I went in for a normal check up and my blood pressure was high, this was a first, my blood pressure (BP) is normally pretty low. My doctor took my BP twice then sent me over to the hospital to get everything all checked out. They hooked me up to monitor the baby and make sure everything was good with him. Then it went to get an ultrasound. I got to see this little guy and find out why my ribs are so sore... He is head down with his feet right by my ribs so every time he kicks he kicks my ribs! They hurt to the point that rolling over in the middle of the night is hard to do. Everything checked out and do far everything is good. My BP has gone down and I am praying it doesn't go back up. My Dr thinks it was a fluke or they are catching something (whatever that thing that might be) before it has started. My Dr also sent me home with this
I get to pee in this for 24 hours then take it back to my dr tomorrow morning. Hopefully my pee checks out or I might be delivering this little guy the first part of June!

34 weeks and Counting!

Yesterday was the 34 weeks mark, I only have 5 more to go! Yep that is right I said 5. No I am not counting wrong, I get to be enduced at 39 weeks. Justin and I are moving June 28 four hours north of us for his third year if medical school, so I asked my dr if it was possible to be enduced a week early so that way we have time to adjust with having a little one before we pack up and move. I have heard many peoples opinion about enduction and have read up on things and feel this is the way for me to go. I have no desire to be husband less right after I have this little guy. I am getting nervous just thinking about taking care of this child! I still can't believe that I am actually pregnant, don't worry I defiantly feel and look pregnant, but the fact I am going to be a mom and have someone depends on me. I know I will be ok, but it is still nerve racking! 5 weeks or less!!!!!!!

The Heat and Humidity!!!

Well I will be 32 weeks tomorrow and fit the past week it feels like summer has hit South Florida!!! It's been close to or in the 90's here and my feet hate it! They have been swelling just about every day for the past week! I don't do much on my feet at work and try to keep them up most of the day, but it doesn't help. People tell me to drink more water but I average about 100 oz a day, which of course makes me have to use the bathroom every hour. The only thing that works is keeping then elevated which is boring!
This is a picture of my feet at work today, they are huge and sometimes make me want to cry because of how big they are!

Diaper Bag Issues

I don't know why but finding a diaper bag was the hardest thing I had to do for this baby! I am not a fan of the huge purses, never have been, I guess I don't have that much crap to lug around with me. I also am not a fancy purse girl either, the simpler the better. All the diaper bags that I have looked at are huge! This is the first baby for me and I don't think I am going to need to pack his whole room with me, so after returning 2 bags and a week or 2 of research I found the perfect bag! It's not considered a "diaper" bag. My only requirements was it had to be big enough to fit a changing pad, diapers and wipes and a spare change if clothes, oh and a water bottle spot for me, I drink a ton of water and take my water bottle wherever I go. So I found the Keen Taylor 13 in. messenger bag
It has many pockets 2 water bottle holders and is not insanely huge. The best part about looking at this bag online is they had a video of it to show you the size against a real person. I ameIting for it to arrive and hope I am in love with it as I was online! Wish me luck!

Maternity Photos

I was not planning on getting maternity photos done at all.  I am not a huge fan of being fat and pregnant, but my friend who is a photographer wanted to do them for me so I decided to just go for it. I am glad I did because she did a wonderful job!  These are just a few of my favorites.  Suzana Garrett  http://imagesbysuzy.blogspot.com
